These stunning images are by Jimmy Nelson from his book released last year called “Before They Pass Away”. He spent a few years shooting portraits of the last remaining tribes that still live in their traditional way, untouched by modern development.

Practice day at the Nanshan Open.
Daniel is the small guy-in-the-sky by the lift tower. I like this angle. I had never shot it before at Nanshan. Lots of potential for someone to be crashing through the mogul field while someone is jumping.

i posted a horizontal version of this shot in the winter. Yesterday, I submitted it as part of series titled “Red Bull Girls” to The Fence at Photoville. Photoville extended the deadline until April 14th, this Monday. So, go submit! photovillenyc.org

Jake Aaronson handragging this shed at Nanshan ski area, outside of Beijing. Fischi, a senior photographer for Pleasure Mag, climbed into the shed to get the fisheye angle.

While we were shooting finals of the Nanshan Open, Jake wanted to do something on this shed just off the course. He didn’t make the finals and was looking for something to ride. In between the comp runs, we shot a few shots: a frontflip and handdrag off the house/shed and then Jake went back up and did a wallride under the lift. It was awesome to get some non-comp shot was shooting a comp. Thanks, Jake!
